Ten-month-old babies with low intelligence are mainly characterized by abnormal sensory development, abnormal motor development, abnormal language development and abnormal mental activity development.
1. Abnormal perceptual development: unable to recognize the size of objects, unable to judge distance by vision, unable to look at falling objects, unable to understand names, unable to distinguish aromatic smells.
2. Abnormalities in motor development: unable to complete the movement of pulling up or sitting down, unable to sit steadily and turn the body from side to side by oneself, unable to crawl skillfully, unable to stand or walk by holding onto the wall, unable to pinch the small objects or tear the paper with the thumb and forefinger, and unable to find the objects that are hidden.
3. Abnormal language development: Cannot understand others’ negative commands such as “no”, “not allowed”, “can’t”, etc., and cannot call out “mom” and “dad” in a clearer way.
4. Abnormal development of mental activities: cannot look in the mirror, cannot play hide-and-seek, and does not recognize a newborn at all.
Whether a ten-month-old baby is mentally retarded or not requires comprehensive judgment, and it is recommended that he or she be followed up regularly in the pediatrician’s department and treated under the guidance of a professional doctor.
