The 2018 Myasthenia Gravis Patient Survival Report was released at the 3rd China Myasthenia Gravis Conference, which showed that nearly 2/3 of patients in China develop the disease at the prime age of 19-53 years old, which directly affects patient survival. The report shows that 25% of patients first developed myasthenia gravis symptoms before the age of 20; more than 50% first developed myasthenia gravis symptoms before the age of 30; and more than 95% first developed symptoms before the age of 60. Nearly 2/3 of the respondents’ age of onset was concentrated in the age of 19-53, which is the prime time to end the student life and start the social and family life; there are also groups of data showing that myasthenia gravis has two peak periods of onset, the peak period for women is in the age of 20-30 and the peak period for men is in the age of 50-60. Myasthenia gravis can occur in all age groups, from newborns to the elderly, and in both sexes. The prevalence of myasthenia gravis is approximately 10-20 per million and the prevalence is 100-200 per million, which is 15 times the prevalence, and both are on the rise. In children, myasthenia gravis is mainly oculomotor type, while in adults, most of myasthenia gravis will develop into generalized type, so early diagnosis and treatment can significantly affect the prognosis of myasthenia gravis patients.
