How long does it take to walk normally after a hip replacement

After hip replacement, you can usually get out of bed within a week after surgery and usually need to walk with the assistance of a walker, the exact time of walking should be determined by the surgery. Hip replacements usually include hemi- and total hip replacements. In general, a hemi hip replacement can be walked with the aid of a walker three days after surgery, and most people can resume normal activities about one month after surgery. After total hip arthroplasty, the time to go to the ground may be relatively longer, and most of them can walk normally after 4-6 weeks. If there are special circumstances such as poorly healed skin wounds, the time to walk on the ground may be extended. After hip replacement surgery, patients should follow the medical advice to carry out functional exercises properly and choose a reasonable time to walk on the ground. During the recovery period, pay attention to keep the wound clean and dry, change the medication in time, and go to the hospital for regular review to understand the recovery situation.
