What’s a high progesterone level when you’re not pregnant?

In the absence of pregnancy, high progesterone is often indicative of a woman in the late luteal phase, which is when menstruation is imminent. During the luteal phase a woman’s progesterone gradually increases until it reaches a peak value. It then suddenly retreats from the peak value, causing the shedding of the uterine lining and the formation of withdrawal bleeding, also known as menstrual blood. So even in non-pregnancy there may be progesterone at its peak value, which is a normal physiological manifestation before menstruation is about to come. So if a woman has a high progesterone level before menstruation and is not pregnant, don’t panic, you can do ultrasound of the uterine adnexa at the same time to measure the thickness of the lining of the uterus, if the lining of the uterus has reached 10-12mm, it means that the menstruation is about to come and at this time, you don’t need to do any medical treatment, you can just observe it.
