ASCUS refers to atypical squamous epithelial cells of unclear significance and is one of the results of cervical exfoliative cytology.
Cervical exfoliative cytology is one of the main methods used to screen for cervical cancer. ASCUS indicates that the exfoliated cells are atypical squamous epithelial cells with unclear significance, which cannot be diagnosed as inflammation, precancerous lesions or cervical cancer for the time being, and needs to be further improved with human papillomavirus (HPV), colposcopic biopsy and other tests for a clear diagnosis.
When the result of cervical exfoliative cytology is ASCUS, don’t give yourself too much psychological pressure, it is recommended to have further examination under the guidance of doctors, and carry out targeted treatment after diagnosis to avoid delaying the condition.
