The dangers of bronchiectasis

Bronchiectasis may lead to recurrent or persistent coughing and sputum, hemoptysis and other symptoms, with the progress of the disease may lead to obstructive ventilation dysfunction, and even cause pulmonary heart disease. 1. Recurrent or persistent cough and sputum: chronic cough, coughing up a lot of sputum is a common symptom, sputum is mucous, mucopurulent or purulent, the amount of sputum can reach hundreds of milliliters per day. 2. hemoptysis: with bronchiectasis, most patients will have hemoptysis symptoms, the amount of blood varies. It can be manifested as blood in sputum or a small amount of coughing up blood, or it can be manifested as hemoptysis, and some patients have repeated hemoptysis. 3. Obstructive ventilation dysfunction: due to the destruction of the bronchial structure, it may lead to persistent airflow limitation, shortness of breath after activity and other symptoms. 4. Pneumogenic heart disease: Increased pulmonary vascular resistance due to bronchopulmonary tissue lesions produces pulmonary hypertension, which in turn leads to structural and/or functional changes in the right ventricle. Pulmonary hypertension increases the burden on the right heart, leading to right ventricular hypertrophy or right ventricular failure. If there is bronchiectasis, it is recommended that the patient go to the hospital in time, according to the patient’s specific condition, under the guidance of the doctor to take targeted treatment.
