Can you have intercourse with a low lying placenta?

Intercourse is not recommended for pregnant women with a low lying placenta and there is a risk of miscarriage or preterm labor.
The normal position of the placenta is usually greater than 7 centimeters or more from the endocervical opening. If the placenta is attached to the lower part of the uterus or covers the cervical opening, this is a hypoplastic placenta. As the pregnancy increases, the uterus enlarges and the lower segment of the uterus extends, the placenta rises in some patients and the hypoplastic placenta can be corrected.
Hypoplacenta carries risks of placental abruption, recurrent vaginal bleeding, and increased chance of infection, and requires careful care during pregnancy, avoiding activities such as strenuous exercise. Intercourse excites the uterus and causes uterine contractions, which can induce placental abruption and vaginal bleeding, as well as, increase the chance of uterine infection.
There is no need to worry too much about the presence of low lying placenta, do a good job of regular pregnancy tests. Pay more attention to rest in daily life, and check the placenta regularly in the middle and late stages of pregnancy, you can usually get through the labor period smoothly.
