Recently, I have seen many patients with metabolic syndrome with chronic kidney disease in the clinic, so I reviewed some literature and wrote a short article for your reference. Metabolic syndrome (MS) is mainly manifested by the coexistence of obesity, hypertension, hyperglycemia, abnormal lipid metabolism and other metabolic abnormalities. MS is mainly composed of visceral obesity, insulin resistance, disorders of glucose metabolism, abnormal lipid metabolism and hypertension. The prevalence of MS in Europe and the United States can be as high as 20%-40%, and in type 2 diabetic patients, the prevalence of MS can be as high as 50%. Our hospital has reported that the MS detection rate was 22.34% in 2008 and increased rapidly to 40.69% in 2009 in the medical examination of middle-aged and elderly cadres. A number of studies have found that the presence of MS components (such as obesity, hypertension, hyperglycemia, abnormal lipid metabolism, etc.) alone can cause and aggravate kidney damage and lead to CKD, and when other MS components are present, the risk of CKD increases significantly compared to that of a single component, and the risk increases with the increase of co-existing MS components. Therefore, MS is a high-risk group for CKD. A prospective study in Japan showed that MS is a very important factor in the development of CKD in the general population. Several single-center, small-scale studies in China have also shown that in type 2 diabetic patients, the more MS components are combined, the higher the risk of developing CKD, and the coexistence of MS components The coexistence of MS components is more serious to kidney damage than single components. So, how can we prevent patients with metabolic syndrome from developing CKD?Metabolic syndrome is mainly a disease caused by poor lifestyle, the main problems are eating unhealthy and not exercising enough, therefore, metabolic syndrome can be prevented. Once metabolic syndrome occurs, the first thing to do is to ask patients to change their lifestyles, try to lead a calm life, reduce unhealthy “dinner table” socializing, participate in more fitness exercises, and pay special attention to controlling hypertension, visceral obesity and hyperuricemia. In addition, we should pay special attention to the control of hypertension, visceral obesity and hyperuricemia.
