Is Surgical Stomach Cutting Effective for Weight Loss

Studies have shown that surgical removal of part of the stomach to treat obesity can significantly reduce a patient’s weight. Currently, treatments for obesity include non-surgical and surgical treatments. However, the long-term efficacy of non-surgical treatment is poor; studies have shown that surgical removal of a portion of the gastric body can reduce the effective volume of the stomach and shorten the absorptive segment of the small intestine, resulting in significant reduction of excess body weight in patients, as well as effective relief of metabolic and related disorders of obesity. Currently, there are 2 commonly used surgical procedures: sleeve gastrectomy and Roux~en~Y gastric bypass. The former has the advantages of simple operation, short operation time and fewer complications, etc.; and the latter is an effective procedure for the treatment of obesity and metabolic diseases. Lifelong follow-up is also required after the operation, with diet and exercise management as prescribed by the doctor, and relevant instructions and interventions. Please seek medical advice if you feel unwell.
