The latest method of treating femoral head necrosis

Aseptic necrosis of the femoral head is a common problem for doctors and patients alike. Currently, the ultimate treatment for advanced femoral head necrosis is hip replacement. For the treatment of early-stage femoral head necrosis, there is no particularly effective method. Shen Huiliang, Department of Orthopedics, Xuanwu Hospital, Capital Medical University
A new treatment method has emerged in the field of surgical treatment for ischemic necrosis of the femoral head, which is the application of tantalum metal through a special process to make a metal AVN reconstruction rod for bone trabeculae. This is the latest international achievement in the treatment of femoral head necrosis, and the first prosthesis used to treat early femoral head necrosis in the field of orthopedics. Our department has started to develop the tantalum trabecular AVN reconstruction rod technology for the treatment of early stage femoral head necrosis, which provides an effective way to slow down or even stop the progression of the disease for patients with early stage femoral head necrosis.
The results of clinical studies have shown that the product can provide mechanical support to the subchondral bone of the femoral head and provide a recanalization pathway to the necrotic area, thus delaying or preventing total hip replacement in patients with femoral head necrosis.
The implantation of trabecular metal AVN reconstruction rods for the treatment of osteonecrosis is less damaging, has a lower complication rate, and is more effective than conventional treatment methods.
