The fever in children with colds and flu may take different times depending on the severity of the illness and the resistance of the child. The duration of fever varies depending on the pathogen and the child’s resistance. For most viral infections that cause upper respiratory symptoms, the fever usually resolves in 2-3 days, while children with poorer resistance may need 3-5 days. In the case of herpes pharyngitis and pharyngeal fever, the fever may last up to 1 week. In contrast, the majority of patients with upper respiratory tract symptoms due to bacterial infections can also achieve fever remission after about 3-5 days of active treatment. Once the condition is poorly controlled, secondary to bronchitis or even pneumonia, the duration of fever is relatively longer, and it may take 7-10 days or even longer for the fever to subside. In addition, for children with fever, it is recommended to drink more water, and at the same time to cooperate with antipyretic patch co-treatment, also physical cooling, and if necessary, active antipyretic drug intervention.
