Is it true that cefixime kills Helicobacter pylori?

Cefixime can kill Helicobacter pylori. Cephalosporin is a more commonly used antibiotic in clinical practice, which has some bactericidal effect on gram-negative bacilli, but the effect is not obvious, and is generally not routinely recommended. Cephalosporin antibiotics alone cannot be taken for H. pylori infection, and antibiotics commonly used in clinical practice include amoxicillin, metronidazole, furazolidone, tetracycline, and levofloxacin. In addition, the current treatment of Helicobacter pylori infection is recommended to take quadruple therapy, that is, a proton pump inhibitor, such as omeprazole, rabeprazole; a bismuth agent, such as bismuth potassium citrate; two antibiotics such as amoxicillin, furazolidone and so on in combination. All of the above drugs are contraindicated for those who are allergic to them and all should be taken as prescribed by a doctor. If the patient is diagnosed with Helicobacter pylori infection, it is recommended to go to a regular hospital in a timely manner, under the guidance of the doctor to carry out targeted treatment, in order to reduce the adverse effects of the disease.
