Hernia surgery: local anesthesia hernia repair

After 200 years of exploration, experimentation, and even debate about this ancient disease, doctors around the world have finally reached a consensus: only surgery can cure a hernia. The choice of surgical method is still a matter of opinion. In particular, the choice of anesthesia, from general anesthesia, epidural, lumbar anesthesia, to local anesthesia, has a group of proponents. However, the basis of various choices is more or less the same, which is nothing more than the patient’s physical condition, operating time, and the limitations of the two methods. Local anesthesia has been improved by many medical groups at home and abroad, and is now very well established. All that is missing is the degree of acceptance by clinicians and the promotion of the work. Local anesthesia, as the name implies, is local anesthesia, and the anesthetic is only played around the surgical incision, with the surgery proceeding layer by layer. Because the anesthetic is only hit locally, the ensuing advantage is that although the amount of anesthetic is small, the concentration of anesthetic in the surgical area is high. The pain relief during surgery is good and the pain relief after surgery is long and can exceed 24 hours. The pain of the surgical incision is generally relieved after 24 hours, which means that the incision is basically painless after local anesthesia surgery. The second advantage of local anesthesia is that it does not cause nausea, vomiting and suppression of the gag reflex, and there is no risk of chemical pneumonia by mistake. Therefore, local anesthesia does not require fasting and bed rest before or after surgery. Other anesthesia requires no food for 6 hours before surgery, no water for 4 hours before surgery, and no pillow for 6 hours or more after surgery. The third advantage of local anesthesia is that it does not affect urination. Both epidural and lumbar anesthesia suppress the urinary reflex, and patients will have more or less weakness to urinate after surgery. For older patients, because of prostate enlargement, hypertrophy, etc., it is easy to have a situation where they cannot urinate on their own and end up having to catheterize. For general anesthesia, catheterization is a routine monitoring and is even more mandatory. The fourth advantage of local anesthesia is that it has less impact on the body and does not require removal of stitches. Foreign countries usually operate on an outpatient basis, and you can go home the same day after surgery. In China, hospitalization is required because of the medical insurance factor, but the length of stay is also significantly shorter, usually 4-5 days. Because of the low impact on the body, it is very safe, and patients who can take care of themselves can undergo the surgery, and they rarely need a companion after the surgery. Patients who used to have to suffer from hernia because of poor health now no longer have to suffer from it. Scientific advances are made to improve one’s quality of life, not for some people to show off their skills. The ultimate goal of medicine is to eliminate the pain of the disease at the smallest possible cost. Local anesthesia hernia surgery is a pretty perfect way to do this.
