Diagnostic criteria for Kawasaki disease in young children require the following five conditions to be met, or an echocardiogram suggestive of a coronary artery aneurysm on top of the four conditions. These conditions include: First, fever lasting more than five days. Second, there is dry, red or strawberry tongue or diffuse erythematous changes of the mucosa. Third, there is nonsuppurative bulbar conjunctivitis. Fourth, there is polymorphic erythema in the trunk area. Fifth, the child’s extremities may have hard edema of the hands and feet and erythema of the palms and toes. Sixth, there is mainly non-purulent cervical lymph node enlargement.
