Goryeo ginseng is mainly used for the treatment of symptoms such as deficiency of vital energy, deficiency of qi in organs, deficiency of qi in febrile illnesses, and injury to fluid and thirst. Goryeo ginseng refers to the ginseng produced in Korean Peninsula, which is sweet, slightly bitter and warm in nature, and belongs to the spleen, lung and heart meridians; it has the functions and efficacy of tonifying the vital energy (replenishing the body’s root qi), generating fluids to quench thirst (promoting the production of fluids to alleviate thirst), and calming down the mind, which is effective for the treatment of symptoms such as deficiency of fluids, deficiency of qi and weakness, weakness of the spleen and stomach, or deficiency of wheezing and coughing. Ginseng is mainly taken by decoction, stewing and brewing, but caution should be exercised by allergy sufferers, people with exuberant liver qi and insomnia and irritability, and should not be taken with Wu Ling Ling Ling, quinoa and carrots. Adverse effects are not clear. Therefore, it is recommended to take this medicine under the guidance of a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner, and should not be taken on its own to avoid delaying the condition.
