What are the effects of long-term eye drops on the eyes after glaucoma surgery

Patient: I had a trabeculectomy for acute glaucoma in my right eye in ’94, and the same preventive surgery was done on my left eye. After the surgery, both eyes were in good condition until the end of 2007, when the visual acuity of both eyes was 1.2. However, a physical examination in March 2008 revealed that the visual acuity of the left eye was 0.8 and that of the right eye had dropped to 0.5, and the optic nerve atrophy was severe. In March 2009, the right eye was completely blind, and in June, he went to a provincial hospital and found that the vision in the left eye was 0.4 and the pressure in the right eye was 17, while the pressure in the right eye was 54. The doctor said that although the right eye was blind, the high pressure would cause corneal ulceration or cause severe pain and eventually the eye would be removed, so eye drops had to be ordered to lower the pressure. The pressure in the left eye is 17, which is lower than 20 within the normal range, but because of having had glaucoma and the requirements of a normal person cannot be compared, it is necessary to prevent a sudden rise in intraocular pressure causing blindness. Since June 19, 2009, I have been taking two drops of Thimerosal and Pyridamole in my right blind eye and one drop of Sulforaphane at night, and two drops of Pyridamole and one drop of Sulforaphane in my left eye. In this way, the pressure in the right blind eye is basically stable at 40 or below, and the pressure in the left eye is controlled at 15 or less. My question now is: Are there any other adverse consequences or complications for the eyes if I take eye drops like this for a long time? Zhang Wei, Ophthalmology Department, Shanda Second Hospital: The condition you mentioned is not complicated, but everyone, in different cases the target IOP is different, long-term use of IOP-lowering drugs have some side effects, but it is not a big problem, the main thing at the moment is to ensure that your vision and visual field are no longer damaged, you can use optic nerve fiber thickness measurement to test regularly, you can also come to my clinic when convenient.
