Consider what the corpus luteum means

Consider luteal is a mass on the adnexa, consider luteal cysts. Luteal cysts are caused by the failure of the corpus luteum to recede in time due to the discharge of fluid such as follicles after ovulation in women, and are physiological cysts that are influenced by hormone levels. Luteal cysts are most obvious before menstruation, and partly due to excessive pressure in the cyst cavity, they can also lead to rupture of the luteal cysts, which will naturally subside after menstruation. This is because new follicles are formed after the start of a new menstrual cycle and the existing corpus luteum will recede due to changes in hormone levels. The majority of luteal cysts do not require special treatment and will subside naturally. However, some luteal cysts, which are too large and cause rupture and bleeding, can cause severe abdominal pain and require surgery. Luteal cysts are also easily confused with ectopic, so when making a diagnosis, blood tests for human chorionic gonadotropin are also required.
