Can prostate cancer cause death in patients?

Prostate cancer can potentially cause a patient to die. Although some elderly prostate cancer patients die without any prostatitis symptoms and not because of the prostate gland, often it is only during an autopsy that prostate cancer is discovered, there are many patients who die because of the prostate gland. If prostate cancer is not treated in time, the condition will gradually worsen. If the prostate tumor invades the surrounding tissues and structures, it may cause bladder irritation such as frequent, urgent, and painful urination, and may even block the urethra completely, causing urinary retention. Some may also cause pain in the perineum, and other compressions may lead to bilateral or unilateral hydronephrosis. Cancer invading the rectum may cause difficulty in defecation or even bowel obstruction. If it metastasizes to the bones, it may also produce bone pain and pathological fracture. Therefore, if not treated aggressively, prostate cancer may lead to the patient’s death.
