What are the manifestations of diabetic autonomic neuropathy

The manifestations of diabetic autonomic neuropathy include gastrointestinal manifestations, cardiovascular manifestations, and genitourinary manifestations. There is individual variability in the manifestations of diabetic autonomic neuropathy. 1. Gastrointestinal manifestations: delayed gastric emptying (gastroparesis), diarrhea (after meals or at midnight), constipation and so on. 2. Cardiovascular system: tachycardia at rest, upright hypotension, silent myocardial ischemia, prolonged QT interval, etc. In severe cases, sudden cardiac death may occur. 3. Genitourinary manifestations: increased residual urine volume, urinary incontinence, urinary retention and so on. Other manifestations include impotence, pupil changes (narrowing and irregularity, disappearance of light reflex, presence of modulation reflex), abnormal sweating (no sweating, little sweating or excessive sweating). Patients with diabetes who develop signs of autonomic neuropathy need to seek prompt medical attention.
