Spleen and kidney yang deficiency (deficiency of yang qi in the spleen and kidneys) is characterized by symptoms such as coldness (fear of cold, cold limbs), shortness of breath and laziness, and insomnia may occur as a result of spleen and kidney yang deficiency. Spleen and kidney yang deficiency is mostly caused by kidney yang deficiency (deficiency of yang qi in the kidneys), which is unable to warm and nourish spleen yang, leading to spleen yang deficiency; or spleen yang deficiency is longstanding, which is unable to transport and transform water and grain essence to nourish the kidneys, thus leading to kidney yang deficiency as well. Clinical symptoms of Spleen and Kidney Yang deficiency are coldness, shortness of breath, laziness, tiredness, loose stools or diarrhea at five o’clock (diarrhea before dawn), or swelling of the limbs, or even fullness and swelling of the abdomen, with a pale and fat tongue, white slippery moss, and a large or weak pulse; insomnia may also occur. When symptoms of Spleen and Kidney Yang deficiency appear, early medical attention should be sought.
