Dizziness in the back of the head and unsteady walking may be caused by posterior circulation ischemia, cervical spondylosis, acute cerebrovascular disease and other reasons.
1. Posterior circulation ischemia: the posterior circulation is usually composed of three blood vessels: posterior cerebral artery, basilar artery and vertebral artery. Posterior circulation ischemia due to cerebral atherosclerosis and cerebral embolism may cause dizziness in the back of the head and unsteadiness in walking, which may be accompanied by weakness of the limbs, numbness of the head and face, and other symptoms.
2. Cervical spondylosis: especially in patients with cervical disc herniation and cervical spondylolisthesis, it is easy to lead to spinal nerve root compression, resulting in insufficient blood supply of vertebral-basilar artery, which may cause dizziness in the back of the head, unsteady walking, as if stepping on the cotton, and may be accompanied by symptoms such as numbness and weakness of the hands and feet.
3. Acute cerebrovascular disease: Infarction in the cerebellum is common, because the cerebellum has a dominant role in the balance of the human body, when the cerebellum is infarcted, resulting in damage to the cerebral nerves in this part of the brain, inducing cerebral dysfunction, which may cause dizziness in the back of the head, unsteady walking, accompanied by unfavorable speech, numbness of the limbs on the left side, weakness and other symptoms.
Dizziness in the back of the head and unsteady walking may also be caused by other reasons. If the symptoms persist and cannot be relieved, attention should be paid to seek medical treatment as soon as possible and targeted treatment should be given after the causative factors are clarified.
