Deficiency swelling in Chinese medicine refers to the patient’s edema accompanied by the weakening of positive qi.
Deficiency is one of the main platforms for clinical identification of the prevalence of evil and righteousness in Chinese medicine. In the case of disease, deficiency generally refers to the weakening of the body’s positive qi, in which the deficiency of positive qi can be categorized as qi deficiency, blood deficiency, yin deficiency, and yang deficiency. Real generally refers to the situation where evil qi is prevalent or where both positive qi and evil qi are more prevalent.
In general, patients with edema accompanied by emaciation, low voice, mental depression, pale and tender tongue, and pain like warmth and pressure belong to the deficiency syndrome. Patients with edema accompanied by a strong body, pain, refusing to be pressed, mental excitement, high voice and thick breath are considered to be the solid syndrome.
When the patient clinically occurs the situation of edema, should be timely medical diagnosis and treatment in order to avoid delaying the condition.
