There are many common causes of lower limb edema in advanced hepatocellular carcinoma, and the treatment options are different for different causes. If it is caused by deep vein thrombosis in the lower extremities due to prolonged bed rest, or due to cancer thrombosis in the inferior vena cava, this condition can be clearly diagnosed by lower extremity venography or enhanced CT, and the symptoms can be relieved by interventional treatment with placement of filters or stents. Patients with cancer-induced thrombosis are not suitable for thrombolytic therapy because of the patient’s coagulation disorder, to avoid the tendency of bleeding induced by thrombolysis, which can endanger the patient’s life.
If the lower limb edema is caused by hypoproteinemia, our diet should restrict water and sodium intake, give intravenous supplemental albumin, give diuretics appropriately, and pay attention to monitoring the patient’s electrolyte index to avoid hepatic encephalopathy due to metabolic disorders.
In addition to symptomatic treatment of bilateral lower extremity edema, we also need to actively treat the primary disease, either through chemotherapy or targeted drug therapy, to slow down the progression of the disease, improve the patient’s condition, and enhance the patient’s quality of life. The company’s main goal is to provide the best possible service to its customers.
