Minimally invasive lumbar disc herniation surgery is one of the lumbar disc surgical treatments, and its main indications include: those who are ineffective after conservative treatment, and those who suffer from severe pain at the first onset.
1. If the patient has been treated conservatively for more than three months and if there is no significant improvement in the symptoms, surgery can be performed.
2. If the patient is having his first attack and the pain is severe, and he cannot sleep or is forced to kneel because of the pain, surgery can be attempted.
3. If the patient is middle-aged and the pain is seriously affecting his/her life or work, surgery can be performed.
4. Surgery can be performed if the patient has compression of the cauda equina nerve, such as dysfunction of urinary and defecation or perineal sensation disorder.
5. Patients with lumbar intervertebral disc combined with spinal stenosis can be treated surgically; or patients with lumbar spondylolisthesis combined with isthmus fracture can be treated surgically.
Patients with lumbar intervertebral disc herniation, such as symptoms of aggravation, should promptly go to the local regular hospital, timely diagnosis and treatment.
