Symptoms of various subtypes of cervical spondylosis can occur at the same time. Mixed cervical spondylosis can have symptoms of multiple cervical spondylosis subtypes at the same time. Clinically, cervical spondylosis is categorized into six types: cervical cervical spondylosis, nerve root cervical spondylosis, spinal cord cervical spondylosis, sympathetic cervical spondylosis, vertebral artery cervical spondylosis, and mixed cervical spondylosis. 1. Cervical cervical spondylosis: Symptoms include pain, soreness and swelling in the neck and shoulders, which may spread to the patient’s shoulders and other locations. Symptoms may worsen when the head is bowed. 2. Neurogenic cervical spondylosis: Symptoms are radiating neuralgia, ranging from the shoulder to the upper arm, and often numbness, soreness and swelling in the hand. 3. Spinal cord cervical spondylosis: dysfunction occurs due to spinal cord compression or spinal cord ischemia. It mainly affects the lower limbs, including the sensation of feet stepping on cotton when walking, and the feeling of girdle in the chest or abdomen. 4. Sympathetic cervical spondylosis: The degeneration of cervical intervertebral discs stimulates the sympathetic nerve endings, which will produce some non-specific symptoms, such as panic, palpitations, facial flushing and cold sweat. 5. Vertebral artery-type cervical spondylosis: the vertebral artery is compressed due to cervical spondylosis, resulting in insufficient blood supply to the brain, which is usually seen in older patients. The blood supply to the head will be problematic, and headaches, dizziness, and even falls on the ground will easily occur. 6. Mixed cervical spondylosis: Mixed cervical spondylosis will show symptoms of multiple cervical spondylosis subtypes, commonly including nerve root cervical spondylosis and spinal cord cervical spondylosis. If both types of symptoms occur in the same patient, the diagnosis of mixed cervical spondylosis can be confirmed. Symptoms of cervical spondylosis require prompt medical attention.
