Ingrown thumb is an abnormal condition that may be associated with brain damage, hence the term “cortical thumb syndrome”. However, some parents mistake the normal thumb flexion of a normal infant within two or three months of making a fist for thumb flexion, causing mental stress. We now show the thumb inversion and the normal thumb flexion when an infant makes a fist with photographs as follows:
