Anal itching, also known as anal pruritus, is a common symptom of anal intestinal disease. The main causes of anal itching are the following: anorectal and perineal diseases: such as hemorrhoids, anal fistula, anal fissure, prolapse, anal incontinence, anal sinusitis, anal papillomegaly, uterine prolapse, vaginitis, urethritis, prostatitis, etc., can cause inflammatory stimulation and increased secretions, causing the occurrence of anal itching. Anal skin diseases: such as anal eczema, neurodermatitis, ringworm, warts, peripheral sweat gland inflammation, abnormal sebaceous gland secretion, venereal diseases, and feces in the rectum attached to the anal folds can stimulate anal skin and cause itching. Parasitic diseases: such as those caused by roundworms, rachis, and trichomonas can cause anal itching. Liver and kidney diseases: primary biliary hepatic sclerosis, biliary obstruction, and increased bile salt content in the blood and skin can cause pruritus, and later stages of kidney disease, uremia can also cause anal pruritus. Endocrine diseases: pruritus in diabetes can spread to the anus due to the high sugar content of the skin and stimulation of nerve endings; pruritus in hyperthyroidism may be caused by excessive sweating, increased basal metabolic rate, emotional stress, etc.
