Diabetes mellitus belongs to the category of “thirst-quenching disease” in Chinese medicine, and Sheng Hua Tang is not generally used for treating diabetes mellitus.
For diabetes mellitus, if there is lung-heat and fluid injury (heat in the lungs, which continuously depletes the body’s fluid), add or subtract Quenching Thirst Formula; for stomach-heat blazing, add or subtract Jade Maiden Decoction; for qi and yin deficiency, add or subtract Seven-flavored Atractylodes Macrocephalae Pantotrichum; for kidney- yin deficiency, add or subtract Six-flavored Dihuang Pill; and for yin and yang deficiency, add or subtract Golden Chamber Kidney Qi-Pill. It is recommended that patients seek medical advice in a timely manner and take medication under the guidance of a doctor to regulate the condition.
