What is a sudden cough?

The most common cause of sudden coughing is the sudden inhalation of irritating smells, such as perfumes and flower essences, or the sudden inhalation of allergens, such as pollen, which can cause high airway reactivity or airway spasm and a sudden onset of coughing, which can be accompanied by chest tightness and shortness of breath in patients with more severe symptoms. Oral spray beta agonists, short-acting salbutamol sulfate, terbutaline, etc., can be used to relieve spasm and asthma and stop coughing, and oral spray hormones, such as budesonide, can be used when necessary. Some patients with more severe symptoms that do not ease well may also use oral or intravenous hormones. Sudden coughs are not only due to these causes. Sudden coughing can also be caused by inhaling rice grains into the airway while eating, or by children not paying attention when playing and inhaling peanuts or melon seeds into the airway.
