Abnormal cells detected by TCT should be further examined if precancerous lesions are suspected; if it is a microbial infection, it can be treated in cooperation with the doctor.
TCT test is also called cervical liquid-based thin layer cell test, which mainly uses liquid-based thin layer cell test system for diagnosis, and this method improves the detection rate of abnormal cells in the cervix.
1. Pre-cancerous lesions: If it is found to be pre-cancerous by TCT, further examination, such as colposcopy and pathologic diagnosis, is needed to rule out cervical cancer and further treatment according to the results.
2. Microbial infection: besides detecting precancerous lesions, TCT examination can also detect microbial infection. If the abnormal cells refer to microbial infection, such as mold, trichomonas, virus, chlamydia, etc., it is necessary to control the inflammation with medication under the guidance of doctor for the type of pathogen.
Abnormal cells detected by TCT should be promptly communicated with the doctor and properly treated under the doctor’s guidance.
