Precautions for oral digoxin elixir

  Digoxin Elixir is an orally administered cardiac drug, which is a sweet and aromatic dilute alcoholic solution. Its main effect is to strengthen myocardial contractility and slow down the heart rate. Most children with precordial disease need to take cardiac diuretics after surgery according to medical advice, but there are side effects of digoxin elixir overdose.  Adverse reactions: mostly seen after toxic doses, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache; blurred vision, color vision disturbance, eye muscle paralysis; various types of cardiac arrhythmias can occur.  Note: The dose should be precise, not to be increased or decreased at will, not to be taken together; take it regularly, once every 12 hours, not to be stopped by yourself; not to be combined with food or other drugs; must be taken strictly according to medical advice.  Listen to the heart rate or count the pulse before each dose, and stop the medication if the heart rate is slower than the following times: within 1 year old: heart rate less than 100 beats/min 1-5 years old: heart rate less than 90 beats/min Over 5 years old: heart rate less than 80 beats/min Arrhythmia may be cardiac drug poisoning or heart failure, which requires prompt medical attention.  The medication should be carefully placed out of the reach of the child to avoid accidental administration.
