There are 2-3 days of tests that need to be done before having gallstone surgery. Pre-operative tests for gallstones usually include ultrasound, biliary X-ray, CT and other tests, all of which usually take 2-3 days to complete. Ultrasound is a non-invasive test that is easy to perform and does not cause any damage to the patient’s body. The diagnostic rate of gallstones is generally around 50%-70%. CT examination of gallstones can show the location and condition of the gallbladder, and can provide a comprehensive examination of different levels of CT images to determine the distribution of stones in the gallbladder. The results of these two tests are relatively quick usually the next day. Before the surgery, various tests must be performed to ensure the safety of the surgery.
