Acupuncture points for vertigo

Vertigo is categorized in Chinese medicine into solid and deficient symptoms. The acupoints used for treating vertigo include the Foot Sanli, Kidney Yu, Liver Yu, Baihui, Fengchi, Taichong, Fenglong and Neiguan points.
1. The main acupoints for solid symptoms are Fenglong, Neiguan, Baihui, Fengchi and Taichong.
Fenglong is located on the lateral side of the lower leg, eight inches above the tip of the ankle. The Neiguan point is located two inches above the transverse line on the distal side of the palm of the wrist. Baihui point, located on the top of the head, five inches above the front hairline. Fengchi point, located on the nape of the neck, between the two points above the sternocleidomastoid muscle and above the trapezius muscle. Taichong point, located on the back of the foot, between the second and first metatarsal bones.
2. The main acupoints for deficiency are the Foot Sanli point, Kidney Yu, Liver Yu, Fengchi point, and Baihui point.
The Foot Sanli point is located on the lateral side of the lower leg, three inches below the calf’s nose point. Kidney Yu is located at 1.5 inches from the posterior midline in the spinal region, just below the spinous process of the second lumbar vertebra. Liver Yu, one point five inches off the posterior midline of the spinal region, on the lower side of the spinous process of the ninth thoracic vertebra.
Hundred Clubs Point, located on the top of the head, five inches above the front hairline. Fengchi point, located on the neck, between the two above the sternocleidomastoid muscle and above the trapezius muscle.
