What causes foot swelling and pain?

Swollen and painful feet may be caused by trauma, gouty arthritis, deep varicose veins of the lower limbs and other reasons.
1. Trauma: If patients suffer from ligament and muscle injuries in the joints of the feet during strenuous exercise, symptoms of swelling and pain in the feet may occur.
2. Gouty arthritis: Due to the abnormal purine metabolism of patients with gouty arthritis, the pain in the feet may occur when they consume too much food with high purine content, which leads to the elevation of blood uric acid, thus inducing gouty arthritis.
3. Deep varicose veins of the lower limbs: usually due to venous valve insufficiency. When overworked and walking a lot, it leads to obstruction of blood return and poor reflux. As a result blood accumulates in the feet, leading to swollen and painful feet.
There may be other reasons for foot swelling and pain, it is recommended to go to the hospital in time, improve the examination to clarify the cause of the disease, and then give targeted treatment or therapy.
