How to feed newborns

Newborn feeding should first prepare the drug, and then choose the appropriate feeding method according to the drug, and then appeasement after the drug. 1. Preparation of drugs: the baby’s ability to swallow and autonomy is still relatively weak, if it is liquid or a small amount of powder, it is possible to feed directly. If it is a capsule preparation, you need to pour the drugs inside into warm boiled water to melt, mixed into a liquid medicine and then fed. If it is a regular dosage of powder, it should be mixed into a paste or liquid. 2. Feed the medicine: raise the baby’s head and chest appropriately, gently press the baby’s lower lip with your thumb to open the baby’s mouth, and feed it directly with a milk dropper. If the medicine is difficult to drink, you can drop the medicine into the depths of the baby’s mouth several times in small amounts to avoid the baby spitting out the medicine. If it is a powder, you can pour it into the milk and just let the baby suck on it. If the baby does not swallow the medicine, parents can gently pinch the cheeks to make them swallow. 3. Appeasement after taking the medicine: After drinking the medicine, feed warm boiled water appropriately to reduce the residue of foreign matter and reduce the baby’s discomfort. Different drugs have different instructions for use, and it is recommended that they be used under the guidance of a doctor.
