Effects of Urea Ointment

Urea ointment acts mainly to soften the skin’s keratin and to moisturize the skin. Low concentration urea creams, such as 10% urea ointment, are mainly indicated for skin keratosis, especially for keratotic skin lesions such as periorbicular keratosis or ichthyosis, to provide moisturizing and anti-keratotic functions. For more severe keratosis, such as palmoplantar keratosis, or limited keratosis due to local friction, topical application of 20% urea cream can be used. Generally, after the topical application of the ointment, depending on the degree of keratosis, the softening effect of the drug can be enhanced by using the sealing package.
