Ovarian adhesions usually have no specific symptoms, but in a few cases may present with lower abdominal swelling or mild pain in one ovary. Ovarian adhesions are found during laparotomy, for example, during laparoscopic exploration, one ovary is found to have membranous or dense adhesions to surrounding tissues, especially if there is an ovarian chocolate cyst. Also, adhesions to surrounding tissues especially to the intestinal canal, rectum, uterine trap, and lateral wall of the uterus may be dense adhesions, causing adhesions that are difficult to separate.
