After hemorrhoid ligation, the threads usually fall off in about 7-10 days. Hemorrhoid ligation are ligated internal hemorrhoids because they grow on the rectal mucosa, where the blood supply is particularly rich, and if they are removed directly, the bleeding will be particularly heavy and difficult to stop. Therefore, a thicker silk thread is used to ligate the base of it, so that the internal hemorrhoid will be ischemic and necrotic on its own, and then the thread will fall off. After 7-10 days, the hemorrhoid nucleus will be ischemic and necrotic. If the threads come off early, the hemorrhoid nucleus may not be completely necrotic, and if the blood supply is restored after the threads come off, the hemorrhoid nucleus may come back to life and continue to grow, so the purpose of ligation will not be achieved. Therefore, it takes about 7-10 days for it to fall off to be considered more normal.
