How long does it take for the hole to heal after wisdom tooth extraction

The hole left after wisdom tooth extraction will take about 7 days to be replaced by soft tissue and heal if there are no special circumstances. The wound healing after wisdom tooth extraction generally goes through the following stages: first, a blood clot will be formed 15-30 minutes after the extraction, which can protect the wound and prevent infection; then the blood clot will be mechanized and gradually form granulation tissue about 24 hours after the extraction, and the wound will basically reach the healing standard in 7 days; after 3-4 days, connective tissue will gradually replace the granulation tissue, and the replacement will be complete in about 20 days. In about 38 days, fibrous bone replaces connective tissue; finally, bone tissue is formed in about 3 months, and normal bone tissue is completely formed in about 6 months. Therefore, the cavity left after wisdom tooth extraction is usually seen to be good in about 7 days. In addition, you must follow the doctor’s advice after tooth extraction, do not brush and rinse your mouth and exercise vigorously for 24 hours, avoid hot water bath, do not spit or suck the wound with force to prevent poor healing and infection caused by the dislodging of blood clot.
