Sugar screening steps

During the 24-28 weeks of pregnancy, pregnant women should go to the hospital for a glucose screening test, i.e. diabetes screening, which is mainly a blood test, and generally requires 12 hours of fasting before doing the glucose screening, mainly a blood test, first one blood draw on an empty stomach, dissolve 50g of glucose powder into 200ml of water, drink it within 5 minutes, no water or food. If the blood glucose level exceeds 7.8 mmol/L, it is called abnormal glucose screening and a glucose tolerance test is required. Gestational diabetes is a serious pregnancy complication that can cause fetal malformation and may also lead to metabolic abnormalities in women, resulting in weakness and huge babies or even obstructed labor during delivery, which can affect the lives of both mothers and babies. Therefore, the glucose screening test should be conducted regularly at 24-28 weeks of pregnancy. It is recommended not to eat foods that are too high in sugar, but a normal diet is sufficient to make the test results more accurate.
