How to treat uterine fibroids

Uterine fibroids are the most common benign tumors in the female reproductive organs and are most common in women aged 30-50. Treatment methods are as follows: 1. Regular review: mainly for asymptomatic patients. Most patients with uterine fibroids have no obvious symptoms or signs and are mostly found during physical examination. If the fibroids are found to be significantly enlarged during the review, or if some clinical symptoms start to appear, such as increased menstrual volume, shortened periods, and pressure symptoms, further treatment is needed. 2.Medication: It is mainly applied to the preparation before surgery and the transition treatment of perimenopause. The main drugs are androgens, mifepristone and gonadotropin-releasing hormone (LHRH) analogs. For patients who need surgery, medication 3-6 months before surgery can help shrink the tumor, correct anemia, and reduce the difficulty of surgery and intraoperative bleeding. For symptomatic perimenopausal patients, appropriate medication can help patients transition to postmenopause, and then they can expect the fibroids to shrink naturally. 3.Surgical treatment: If the symptoms are serious, the tumor is large, drug treatment is ineffective, pressure symptoms of bladder or rectum appear, infertility or repeated miscarriage exclude other reasons, or if the fibroid is larger than 4cm and there are plans to have children in the short term, surgical treatment is needed. In summary, the treatment of fibroids needs to be judged according to the patient’s symptoms and the size of the fibroids.
