What is the meaning of infusion chemotherapy

Perfusion chemotherapy refers to the method of killing cancer cells in some tumors combined with pleural or abdominal effusion, and finding cancer cells in the pleural or abdominal effusion, by infusing chemotherapy drugs into the chest or abdominal cavity. For example, lung cancer is easily combined with a large amount of pleural fluid, and the pleural fluid will produce chest compression and cause difficulty in breathing, so chemotherapy drugs such as bleomycin and cisplatin can be injected into the chest cavity to make the pleural fluid disappear. For example, gastric cancer is easily combined with peritoneal effusion, under the condition of adequate drainage of peritoneal effusion, docetaxel or paclitaxel plus cisplatin can be infused into the peritoneal cavity to eliminate peritoneal effusion and reduce ascites, meanwhile, thoracoabdominal infusion is also effective for systemic tumors.
