(1) Improper biopsy planning or poor biopsy operation techniques can affect the accuracy of diagnosis and ultimately delay diagnosis and treatment. (2) Wrong sampling, inadequate tissue preparation, or unreasonable interpretation leads to misdiagnosis. (3) Improper design of biopsy incision or soft tissue contamination caused by operation can lead to an eventual expansion of tumor resection or higher level of amputation, and may even deprive some patients who were to be treated with limb preservation of the opportunity to preserve their limbs. (4) If the tumor cells extensively contaminate the soft tissues during biopsy, then the scope of surgery must be expanded when the tumor is finally removed, which leads to the increase of soft tissue defects and increases the difficulty of reconstruction. Therefore, the biopsy and surgery of the lesion should be performed by experienced bone tumor specialists, whose biopsy incision or puncture point must be on the future surgical incision, so that the biopsy channel can be removed together with the future surgery to reduce the chance of tumor cell contamination and tumor recurrence.
