About urinary tract infections in married women

The occurrence of urinary tract infections in married women is closely related to sexual life, childbirth (especially multiple births), menopause, living environment and general condition. The incidence of urinary tract infection is generally higher in rural women than in urban women, which may be related to living environment, lifestyle habits and hygiene awareness. The reasons for the high incidence of urinary tract infection in married women during the period of frequent sex, childbirth and menopause are generally the following: (1) The female urethra is short, straight and wide, and the urethral sphincter is weak, and the female urethral orifice is pressed, moved inward or traumatized during sex, which can squeeze the fine seedlings around the front urethral orifice into the posterior urethra and bladder. (2) The increase in secretion of luteinizing hormone during pregnancy leads to relaxation of ureteral smooth muscle and slowing of peristalsis, and the change in the chemical composition of urine during pregnancy is conducive to bacterial growth, while the uterus of pregnancy compresses the ureter. (3) Married women have a high incidence of chronic gynecological diseases such as vaginitis, hysteritis and pelvic inflammatory disease, which can directly spread or contaminate the urethra via lymphatic route or secretions causing urinary sensation. (4) Postpartum, due to vaginal and uterine trauma or catheterization can directly lead to urinary tract infection. (5) Menopausal women urethral mucosa atrophy, as well as there is a decrease in antacid secretions, local antibacterial power decreased. Therefore, it is important to strengthen the education of married women’s hygiene, strengthen the education of health care during pregnancy, puerperium and menopause, strengthen rural women’s health awareness, and improve the living environment to prevent and reduce the incidence of urinary tract infections in married women.
