This article is designed to answer some of the key questions parents have about developmental delays in their children. Developmental delay, or developmental delay in English, is still a very difficult condition for parents and professionals. We clinically diagnose children under the age of 3 with developmental delay as “psychomotor retardation” or “mental retardation” and children over the age of 3 with mental retardation and adaptive behavior deficits as “mental retardation”. In other words, some early developmental delays may lead to low intelligence levels, learning disabilities, etc. later in life.
