What to do if a kidney stone scratches the ureter

Ureteral scratches caused by kidney stones and hematuria usually recover on their own. When kidney stones move in the body with urine or change in body position, they can cause damage to the mucous membrane of the urinary system, resulting in hematuria, which can be painful at the same time. In general, hematuria is relatively mild, and it is more likely to recover on its own after drinking more water and does not require special treatment. Special circumstances, such as patients long-term oral aspirin, warfarin and other anticoagulant drugs, can lead to the persistence of hematuria; or hematuria for a long time repeated episodes, which generally need to use hemostatic drugs treatment. If the hematuria fails to improve after conservative treatment or is accompanied by other discomforts, kidney stone patients need surgery to remove the stone.
