In recent years, more and more complex hand and foot deformities have been admitted to our department, and we have been operating on such cases almost every day, even several times a day. Although the pathogenesis is not fully understood, it may be related to the aggravation of environmental and food pollution. Not only hand and foot deformities, but also head and facial deformities are becoming more and more prevalent, and cleft lip and palate is said to have become the first congenital deformity in China. As a professional doctor of craniofacial and plastic hand surgery, I am deeply worried that the environmental pollution and food safety problems in China have reached a point where they must be fixed! Every time I see such children, I can’t help but feel sorry for them, the lovely flowers just sprouted and then there are cripples! All I can do is to do my best to fix God’s blunders. One thing I often say to parents is: believe that God is fair and did not give your child perfect hands (or feet, or face), but will surely give you other aspects of your child’s talent! Parents’ optimism and confidence are very important to the healthy growth of their children, and I hope that parents who have such babies must not be discouraged! Here is a case of multiple deformities of both hands, rare 2 months post-operative follow-up photos (many cases after the removal of stitches after the surgery lost visits, especially the good results, some back to follow-up encounter with other doctors in the department and did not give photos). He presented with dysplasia, lack of knuckles, and syndactyly in the right hand, and a circumferential band at the root of the left finger. He was 10 months old at the time of surgery, and although his right hand was heavily deformed, he had no problem living and learning after surgery.
