Why the hiccups?

Hiccups may be due to physiologic factors, such as: life and diet factors, mental factors, environmental factors, etc., but it may also be due to organic lesions, such as: digestive tract diseases, central nervous system diseases, chest and lung diseases. 1.Physiological factors: (1) Life dietary elements: if you eat spicy and stimulating food or overeat, it may trigger diaphragmatic spasm and hiccups. (2) Mental factors: if there is long-term tension, anxiety and other bad emotions, may also affect the sympathetic nervous system, thereby inhibiting the peristalsis and emptying function of the gastrointestinal tract, and then hiccups, abdominal distension and other symptoms. (3) Environmental factors: when the temperature is too high, too hot, may also induce hiccups. 2.Organic lesions: (1)Digestive tract diseases: when suffering from reflux esophagitis, peptic ulcer, gastritis, intestinal obstruction and other diseases, abdominal pain, bloating, acid reflux, heartburn, hiccups and other symptoms may occur. (2) Central nervous system diseases: when suffering from meningitis, brain tumors, craniocerebral injury and other diseases, hiccups may also occur, but at the same time, they are mostly accompanied by headache, nausea, vomiting, impaired consciousness and other symptoms. (3) Chest and lung diseases: when suffering from pneumonia, lung cancer, pleurisy diseases, some patients may also have hiccups, but this symptom is relatively rare. There are many causes of hiccups, so it is recommended to go to the hospital in time, and after the doctor’s interview and the relevant examination programs, to clarify the cause of the disease, and follow the doctor’s instructions on the cause of the treatment.
