When is the best time to get tested for HIV antibodies?

HIV is mainly present in the blood, cerebrospinal fluid, pleural fluid, ascites, semen and vaginal secretions of the human body of HIV-infected patients, and to a lesser extent in breast milk, other secretions and excretions; any person who has access to these body fluid materials, whether in an occupational or non-occupational relationship, is at risk of infection.

The following people are recommended to be tested for AIDS: drug addicts, prostitutes, prostitutes, multi-sexual partners, MSM, paid blood donors and blood recipients, etc. Patients attending STD clinics, pre-operative, hospitalized and trauma patients, pregnant women, spouses/partners of HIV-infected/AIDS patients, pre-marital check-ups, tuberculosis patients, police officers on duty or medical personnel who are professionally exposed at work, etc. The “3C” principle: informed consent/informed consent, counseling, confidentiality, etc. The testing unit should also avoid discrimination, provide notification of results and referral and follow-up support services, etc.

If the test result is negative, a “negative HIV antibody” report can be issued. If the window period has passed, HIV infection is ruled out; if the window period has not passed, the next testing time is told; the initial outpatient screening test can be done anonymously; there are different opinions about the window period for HIV testing, according to the national regulations most of them think it is 3 months; in fact, most of them can be done in 6 weeks, and there are no reports of HIV-infected patients with a window period longer than 6 months in China; if it happens If the “reason” for HIV testing occurs, it is recommended to get tested right away, even though the window period has not yet passed.
