How long do contractions last after delivery?

In most cases, the contractions will last for about 1 week after delivery, which is a normal physiological phenomenon that helps to promote the recovery of the uterus and the discharge of the malodorous fluid, and can reduce postpartum bleeding. Because the uterus needs to return to its prenatal level after delivery, the uterus will continue to contract to promote uterine recovery. Postpartum contractions can cause painful contractions, which are usually more obvious 3-5 days after delivery and start to decrease gradually after 5 days, and can last for about 1 week. In addition, the uterus of menstruating mothers is relatively sensitive, so their contraction pains are more obvious than those of first-time mothers, which is a normal phenomenon, so mothers need not worry too much and pay attention to maintain a calm state of mind. Usually most women can tolerate the pain caused by postpartum contractions and do not need medication. For some women with very severe contraction pain, they can be treated with painkillers such as aspirin and ibuprofen under the guidance of a professional doctor.
